March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

PerformCare is proud to support those in New Jersey with developmental disabilities, and their families.

Developmental disabilities impact more than 7 million Americans and their families. March was first designated Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in 1987. In a proclamation that year, President Ronald Reagan said, "Americans are becoming increasingly aware that such disabilities need not keep individuals from realizing their full potential in school, at work or at home, as members of their families and of their communities."

Our colleagues at The Arc of New Jersey assembled on their website materials to educate others about the contributions people with developmental and intellectual disabilities make to society.

Developmental and intellectual disability services through PerformCare

The State of New Jersey and PerformCare work together to administer the publicly-funded developmental disability service delivery system for children and youth up to age 21. See how PerformCare has helped families access public behavioral health services in partnership with the Department of Children and Families Division of Children's System of Care.
