PerformCare walks with NAMI to end stigma

As part of National Mental Health Awareness month, associates from PerformCare participated in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) walk event in Princeton, New Jersey.

PerformCare associates and other walk participants aimed to raise awareness of the need for improved treatment and recovery systems for people impacted by mental illness.

Ending the stigma of seeking help for mental health services was a major theme of the day.

"One of the biggest obstacles a person can face is taking the first step to ask for help," said Kathy Enerlich, Executive Director, PerformCare in New Jersey. "There is a fear of being labeled, which can be magnified when distressed."

Kathy joined associates from PerformCare's Member Services department on the five kilometer walk around the campus of a local educational services provider.

"I am very pleased to support NAMI," said Kathy. "Events like this tie very much into PerformCare, helping New Jersey youth and families access behavioral health care when and where it is needed."
